Hello everyone!

I realize that this has been my first blog in forever! I have been to Africa and climbed a mountain, saw lions, and ran with the monkeys! I have witnessed babies be born, and the elderly pass away. Never in my life have I ever thought I would have done this. I love life, and I love everything in it. People are a big existence in my life and Kelly is the love of my life. This blog is random, and I'm sorry. That's just how it's going to be. I have graduated college and now I have a job at Sanford in Fargo and I'm so excited! I get married in a month

Playing the waiting game!

Well, here we are in the Minneapolis waiting for our flight to Amsterdam. Our flight doesn't leave until about 3, so we have a little bit to wait. All of us are currently at TGIFridays eating our last dinner in the states. It still isn't sinking in that by this time tomorrow we'll all be in Africa. Well, most of us might be in Africa. In Jamestown, Liz and Jackie were told that they were only booked to Amsterdam. So, we'll just have to see what goes down.

And so the trip begins

I will be heading to the airport in approximately 4 1/2 hours for my trip to Africa! I'm super nervous and really excited all at the same time! I've been spending these past couple days with Kelly, which was super exciting! I hadn't seen her since Christmas, and now I won't get to see her until graduation. Kelly helped me pack my bag. Well, she actually packed my whole bag. I just brought her clothes and stuff to put it. She packed it a little to well because my bag was 62lbs! So, I was scrambling to try and get underweight! We went and got all the bags weighed and redistributed tonight so we didn't have to do it in the morning.

Well, I don't know what else to say before I leave. I might be able to update this randomly in Africa. I'll post on Facebook when I do.

It's so close!

It's starting to get really close for me to go to Kenya! I just took my first anti-malaria pill! I'm a little nervous because a couple side effects are paranoia and very vivid dreams. So, I warned my roommate that I might be having some crazy dream. Haha! I leave for Africa in 2 weeks from today. Actually, I'll be either in the air, or waiting in Amsterdam in exactly two weeks. It's just so surreal! We had a potato bar feed yesterday at a church in town yesterday. It was so awesome! We made over $1100! It's so great because all that money is going to an orphanage for food!

Anyway, not much else has been happening. I'll write more later!

It's Been A While

Hello again. It's sure been a while since writing. There's been some stuff that has happened. Let's start off by talking about what happened after class on Tuesday. So, a couple of us were on facebook during class talking about how boring our class was. Well later that night, the same bunch of us got an email from the teacher about the posts. I almost shat my pants! Haha! But as she said in the email, she wanted to make an example of confidentiality and the use of social media since we had just been to our annual OSHA/HIPPA inservice.

What else has happened? Um, I had to work yesterday. It was fine. I hate working with some of the people though. It's just the people that think they are so funny and they are God's gift to CNAing that make me so angry and want to never work there again. Anyway, enough about that. Work was ok, only because I need the money. Speaking of needing money, I just spent over $160 at Walmart today!!! It was so ridiculous! I went and I bought most of the stuff that I'll need for my trip to Africa. I just couldn't believe that it was that much! I also had a little fundraiser/benefit breakfast in a small town church just north of Jamestown. It was fun. It was a pancake breakfast. Amanda and I made the pancakes, while the others helped bring us more, batter, bring coffee around, and all that jazz.
The pancake makers!

Amanda using her skills!

That's right, I can make food.

The pancake masters!

Look at them! Don't they look good!

Amanda is a skilled pancake maker!

Hi Jackie!

Even nursing students have to clean plates sometimes.

Other than that, I haven't done much of anything today. I watched America's Next Top Model all day and now I am watching the Golden Globes. I think I might go and start on some homework.

Have a great day!

The same old thing

So, this morning consisted of sitting in Reiland while we listen to our annual OSHA/HIPPA talk. This is one of the most boring thing I have ever while in the nursing program. Not too much happening in here. Just the professor droning on and on about the exact same thing that I heard in previous years. Now onto class from this afternoon. It was so boring. My professor tried to make it interesting, but it just wasn't. I kept checking my phone and my iPad just trying to pass the time away. I was going out of my mind. You know those days when you just can't focus, I feel like I'm going to have a lot of those days in this class. It wouldn't have been so bad except it was just so long! So, I don't know if I'll be able to make it through this class. I'll have to, but it's going to be rough. Another thing that's been going on is that I'm trying to start losing weight. I've never been one to watch what I eat. But now that I've started, it sucks hardcore! Haha! So, I downloaded this new program on my iPad which is supposed to help with this, and it is. It's just hard for me to realize what I exactly have to do to make this happen. I went to the Foss Center tonight and last night to work out and it has sucked! I feel gross from all the sweating while i work out. And then on top of that, the machines tell that I'm not burning that many calories which I think is complete crap. Haha! It just feels like I should be burning a lot more than what the machines tell me. Enough blogging for one day. I'm gonna go shower because I haven't showered yet since I worked out. Have a good one! - Posted using BlogPress from my iPad

Hello world

So, I've decided that I should start a blog. Don't ask me why, I just feel like I should put my thoughts out there. Everyone who knows me would agree with that. This blog will not have any sort of direction. My brain is kind of all over the place. So, I'm sitting in my first class of the semester and I have to tell you, it feels weird. I'm a senior and I feel like I should still be freshman. I don't feel like I should be this old. I went home for Christmas break. I went to the high school a couple times and it was weird to see all of these little kids that used to go swimming while I worked at the pool were already in high school. It just makes me think where all the time went.

So, enough about that. Today is my last first day of school! Yay! I'm so pumped. I finally graduated to the first floor for class. It's really weird. I also just went and bought my books and syllabi for my classes. This was the cheapest it has every been! Only $188! It's really nice not spending $300 or more.

My time at Jamestown has been so surrel. As I said before, I don't feel like I should be a senior. Being a senior makes me think back over my time here. I was talking to a freshman not to long ago. We were talking about the classes they were going to be taking. It was crazy telling them which one to take because of my prejudice to some teachers. Haha! It just seemed off because I remember when my sisters were telling me what class to take or not to take. As I look around the classroom, I see how all of us has changed. Whether it be different hair style or different friendships, we have all changed tremendously. It makes me think back to all of us sitting in our first health assessment class waiting for Kim to come class.

Well, I think that'll be all for this blog. Until next time, have a great day!
